Multilingual Family Potluck and Game Night

Did you know that Farmington Public Schools have students that speak over 40 different languages? A Multicultural Potluck and Family Game Night was recently held for K-8 families of students in the English Learner program at the Farmington Library. This was an opportunity for families to socialize and share about the cultural dish they brought while meeting other multilingual families. Farmington Public School EL teachers and tutors were also present, providing families with an opportunity to speak with those who work with their children. Everyone shared multicultural dishes while playing BINGO. Families then broke into smaller groups to play various language-based games such as Apples to Apples, Slapzi, Spot It!, and more. Having opportunities for families to make connections is an important part of making them feel welcome and a sense of belonging to Farmington.
