Board of Education

Letter from the Board of Education to the Farmington school district community:

Dear Farmington Families, Faculty and Staff,

We hope you are enjoying the many celebrations that mark the end of another outstanding school year.  We thank you for your support over the course of this school year.  In addition, we extend our appreciation to the faculty, staff and administration of the Farmington schools for their extraordinary work with our students each day.

As you know, Superintendent Greider announced her retirement earlier this year effective June 30, 2025, and we have been in the process of a search for a new Superintendent in Farmington since that time.  We engaged our community in feedback sessions and a survey to identify the attributes most valued in Farmington when it relates to our new district-wide leader.  Although we received applicants from across Connecticut and beyond, we have not yet identified a final candidate who meets all of the criteria, qualifications and expectations we collectively have established.  Therefore, we are continuing the search and will repost the position in the near future so that we may identify a successful candidate as soon as possible.

We have asked Superintendent Greider to continue as Superintendent on an interim basis effective July 1, 2025 and until a new Superintendent is appointed and starts in Farmington. We extend our gratitude to Superintendent Greider for her willingness to maintain continuity of leadership and continuous district-wide improvement within our school district and ensure a smooth and seamless transition of leadership.  Both the Board and Superintendent Greider are deeply committed to such continuity and a smooth leadership transition for all members of our school district community.

Please know that the Board of Education is continuing the search process so that we may identify a leader who not only meets and exceeds the expectations of this community, but also continues our tradition of leading the way in public education within Connecticut and beyond.

Sincerely

The Farmington Board of Education
