The Farmington Board of Education and Superintendent Greider are pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Jeffrey Russell to the position of Assistant Principal at Farmington High School (FHS) commencing July 1, 2024.
Jeffrey Russell comes to the Farmington Public Schools with experience and expertise in curriculum, instruction, assessment, instructional coaching and operations within the E. O. Smith High School community. He is deeply committed to all elements of Farmington’s Vision of the Global Citizen within an inclusive and supportive school community. His commitment to relationship building and excellence in teaching, learning and student outcomes will serve him well as the new Assistant Principal at Farmington High School.
Superintendent Greider stated, “Throughout the search process, Mr. Russell consistently exhibited a strong knowledge and commitment to student-centered learning aligned to our Vision of the Global Citizen. His dedication to continuous improvement in the areas of teaching, learning, achievement and student well-being will support and build upon the innovative improvement work underway at Farmington High School. His student-centered approach will be critical to creating a smooth transition to the new high school facility for all members of the school community.“

Mr. Russell brings a great deal of experience as a leader within his current school community. He is an individual who is quick to step forward to address an issue or work in collaboration with others to innovate in order to arrive at a better outcome for his students. In all aspects of his work, he is a deeply caring and relationship focused leader. We are thrilled to welcome Mr. Russell to the Farmington High School community.”

Mr. Russell expressed enthusiasm about his appointment to the position of Assistant Principal of FHS by stating, “I am thrilled to be joining the Farmington Public Schools team! Farmington is at the forefront of ensuring an equitable learning community for all students evidenced by the work done in the Vision of the Global Citizen. My work and previous experiences align well with the direction of Farmington High School and the school district. I can not wait to begin working with all members of the school community to ensure the continued success of Farmington’s students.”
Brief Bio:
Jeffrey Russell earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Math Education & Master’s Degree in Curriculum & Instruction from the University of Connecticut in 2013. In 2024, Mr. Russell obtained his Sixth Year Diploma from the University of Connecticut in Education Administration. In his current role, Mr. Russell has planned and led school-wide professional development on equity and in aligning research-based student-centered instructional practices to the teacher evaluation rubric to develop a shared definition of high-quality instruction. In addition, he developed a new teacher induction program that included instructional rounds and bi-weekly workshops aligned to district priority areas of student-centered learning, personal responsibility, and equity. Since 2013, he has been a Mathematics Teacher at E.O. Smith High School in Storrs, CT.
