Cutting Edge

This summer, 18 FHS students are involved in the Cutting Edge program, which offers participants a combination of classroom seminars and hands-on research experience under the supervision of UConn Health PhD candidates. Participants learn about various topics including biotechnology, bioinformatics, molecular cloning and mutagenesis, and protein expression and purification. Students practice laboratory skills such as cloning DNA, using various chromatographic techniques, and detecting DNA and proteins by gel electrophoretic analysis.

Farmington Public Schools including Farmington Collaborative Preschool and Farmington Continuing Education are closed due to inclement weather. EXCL will be open at the West Woods Upper Elementary School location from 8am-5pm for students who have pre-enrolled in the inclement weather program.
