Two IAR Students-Finalists for Nation’s Best Student Podcast (NPR)

Congratulations to 8th-grade students Anastasiia Koshyk and Ashley Yang, whose podcast Russian-Ukrainian War was selected as one of the top 11 finalists nationwide in the NPR Student Podcast Challenge. This is an extraordinary honor, as NPR received more than 2,000 submissions. Anastasiia and Ashley produced this podcast as part of their work in 7th-grade Language Arts with the support of their teacher, Ms. Lisa Mishriky.  Their work demonstrates disciplined thinking and self-awareness as they thoughtfully explore the history and impact of the war through conversations – in multiple languages – with people currently living in Ukraine. With both engaged collaboration and a commitment to making civic-minded contributions, Anastasiia and Ashley show what it means to be empowered student journalists using their voices to deepen understanding of global issues. Be sure to listen to their podcast, along with other finalists, here!
