FARMINGTON PUBLIC SCHOOLS ANNOUNCES THE APPOINTMENT OF DIRECTOR OF CURRICULUM AND INSTRUCTION EFFECTIVE JANUARY 21, 2024
The Farmington Board of Education and Superintendent Kathleen C. Greider are proud to announce the appointment of Eric Martin, as the Director of Curriculum and Instruction for the Farmington Public Schools, effective January 21, 2025. Effective January 21, 2025, Eric Martin will replace current Director of Curriculum, Veronica Ruzek who has been appointed to the position of Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum, Instruction and Human Resources. Eric Martin is the current Director of Curriculum, Instruction and Technology within the Portland Public Schools, serving in similar roles for approximately eight years. His Pre-K-12 experience in curriculum and instruction is well aligned to his new position within the Farmington schools. Throughout the search process, Eric articulated his belief in high academic expectations within learning environments that prioritize belonging, curiosity, student voice and choice and relevance, leading to deeper learning experiences for all. His knowledge, expertise and beliefs align well to Farmington’s core documents, our Vision of the Global Citizen, Framework for Teaching and Learning, Core Beliefs, Equity Framework and Theory of Action.
Superintendent Greider states, “We enthusiastically welcome Eric Martin to the Farmington Public Schools. His expertise in learner-centered curriculum and instruction as well as high-quality professional development will advance deeper learning experiences for all students across the entire school district. Eric’s focus on building relationships during his transition as well as working with all members of the school district community to enact innovative strategic improvement priorities aligned to our Vision of the Global Citizen made him an excellent choice for this important PreK-12 leadership position. Eric is a resident and parent of children in Farmington, and the Board of Education is thrilled to appoint such an experienced and well-respected curriculum and instruction leader to the Farmington school district.”
Veronica Ruzek stated, “The Director of Curriculum and Instruction has broad responsibilities for shaping the teaching and learning experiences of both our students and faculty. We are excited to welcome Eric Martin to that position and to our leadership team where he will join us in planning for welcoming, active, and engaging classrooms across the district.”

Brief Bio:
Eric Martin is a Central Connecticut State University graduate who also holds a Master’s degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Saint Joseph and an 092 Administration certification from Sacred Heart University and an 093 Superintendent certification from CCSU. Currently Eric is the Director of Curriculum, Instruction, and Technology in Portland, Connecticut and served in this same role in the Thomaston Public Schools from 2016 to 2020. Eric also has teaching experience as a high school English teacher in West Hartford and Thomaston.
