Kindergarten Literacy Workshop

Five sessions of the Kindergarten Parent/Child Literacy Workshop were held on Tuesday, March 21st in the Farmington Public Library Children’s program room. This was the final session of a series of workshops for Kindergarten parents offered by the district’s new Family Engagement Facilitator. Parents learned about the different parts of literacy instruction, end-of-year expectations, the importance of nightly reading and ideas to continue learning during the summer. Meanwhile, children played literacy games with a number of Farmington High School student volunteers. Once again families left with a bag of materials and books to read at home. Parents have commented how helpful these workshops have been and we plan to offer them again next year.
