Special Education
IN THIS SECTION
In accordance with the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act (IDEIA) and Section 504 of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Farmington Department of Special Services provides a wide range of services and specially designed programming for students with exceptionalities.
Special education and 504 services are designed to offer a rigorous, inclusive free and appropriate educational program (FAPE) for each qualifying student that provides a continuum of support in the areas of academic, emotional, social and physical growth.
Through the Planning and Placement Team (PPT) and 504 meeting process, each school will recommend and outline services necessary for each student to access and benefit from their education. It is among Farmington’s core beliefs that best practices is to provide services in the “least restrictive environment” (LRE) within the general education setting to the greatest extent possible to ensure all students receive a high quality, equitable education.
