Greider are pleased to announce that Assistant Superintendent for Finance and Operations, Dr. Scott Hurwitz, has received the Neag School Alumni Award for Outstanding School Administrator.<\/p>\n<p>According to the Neag School Alumni Award criteria, recipients of the Outstanding School<br \/>Administrator award demonstrate excellence and impact, make significant contributions to the educational or professional environment, engage in professional and\/or community service and have five years or more of service in the award category.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">Superintendent Greider shared, \u201cDr. Scott Hurwitz has served many roles within the Farmington\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">Public Schools as Principal of Irving A. Robbins Middle School as well as Farmington High\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">School and currently as the Assistant Superintendent of Finance and Operations. In all of the\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">roles he has served, he approaches his leadership work with excellence and care. Relationships\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">and collaboration are at the core of his leadership practice. Dr. Hurwitz\u2019s contributions to our\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">leadership team and the entire school district community are vast and reflect his deep and\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">unwavering commitment to the Farmington Public Schools. We are so proud and pleased that he\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">is being recognized for his exemplary leadership. He has accomplished a great deal in his time\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">as a school and district leader in Farmington. I, along with the entire Board of Education,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">celebrate Dr. Hurwitz\u2019s leadership work in all areas and more specifically, his collaborative\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">work related to the Elementary Ad Hoc Committee, Transportation Bid Process, and countless\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">other projects that have led to innovation and improvement in operations and finance within our\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">school district. He is a leader who embraces any challenge and puts students first in all aspects\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">of his daily leadership work. On behalf of the Board of Education and Farmington community,\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">we extend our sincerest congratulations to Dr. Hurwitz upon receiving this outstanding\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-size: 1.2rem;\">recognition.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hurwitz stated, \u201cI am honored to receive this recognition from the Neag School of Education at the University of Connecticut. With that in mind, this honor truly speaks volumes to the collaborative efforts of our entire educational community. Success in education is not achieved alone. This award is a testament to the outstanding teams I have been associated with throughout my career, and I am deeply grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such exceptional educators and leaders<br \/>who keep students at the center of their actions to foster continuous improvement.\u201d<\/p>\n<p><br \/>Brief Bio:<br \/>Dr. Hurwitz received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Secondary Education \u2013 History and a<br \/>Master\u2019s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Connecticut. He received his Master\u2019s Degree in School Building Leadership at Teachers College Columbia University and earned a Doctorate in Educational Leadership (Ed.D) at the University of Connecticut.<\/p>\n<p>Dr. Hurwitz has served as the Vice President of the Summer Principals Academy Leadership<br \/>Council and is the recipient of numerous educational scholarships and grant awards. He has served as a UCAPP Mentor Principal, CCSU Mentor Principal and a Sacred Heart University Mentor Principal.
